Would Anyone Care For Some Limoncello?

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE wedding favors! That is to say, I love good wedding favors. There’s nothing better than to step away from the traditional favor of chocolate covered almonds and bubbles to something so much more…invigorating…like Limoncello!

Take a look at these Limoncello favors courtesy of The Knot for instance.

Limoncello

How adorable are these personal sized Limoncello wedding favors?! I don’t even think I’d drink mine. I’d probably just keep it on my shelf as a decoration if I’m being perfectly honest with you.

So, obviously you can go out to your local liquer store and buy a few bottles of Limoncello to put into the designated wedding bottle favors OR you could got the extra mile and MAKE you’re own Limoncello!

Lets get started shall we?

Ingredients:

11 lemons
1 750-ml bottle of Everclear, or other grain spirit (140+ proof)
3 cups (21 ounces) granulated sugar
3 cups boiling water

Directions:

  1. Peel wide strips of lemon zest (avoiding as much of the white pith as possible) with a sharp vegetable peeler; reserve lemons for another use. Add the lemon peels to a 1-liter (or larger) airtight container and top off with the Everclear.

2. Let stand at room temperature in a dark place for at least 3 days and up to 1 week.

3. After the infusing period is over, stir together the sugar and boiling water until the sugar has dissolved; allow to cool. Combine the lemon peel/Everclear solution with the sugar syrup in an airtight container (two if necessary, space wise) and refrigerate 1 day.

4. Strain out the lemon peels and bottle. Store in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Once the Limoncello is ready, funnel it into the bottles you’ve selected to use as your wedding favor (you can find some great bottles at Specialty Bottle) and hang tags or create your own labels to finish it off!
